On our way to the Gold Coast It has been another good year for the Samba School. We have had over 10 good gigs, ranging from private weddings to corporate events, and again we played at the Indy parade at the Gold Coast. And, we'll end the year with a fantastic New Year's gig at the Gold Coast Art Centre. Next year is again going to be better. We will keep this web site much more up to date, and might even do a re-design. And ... about 10 of us will be going to the Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro to get some further inspiration! So watch this space... |

Happy birthday to us!!! It's one year since our first rehearsal on 26 April 2003, and what a great year it was! We now have a very solid bateria (percussion section) and are looking forward to growing even bigger. We're aiming to have 40 percussionists playing by the end of the year! We also had to move out of our previous rehearsal space at BEMAC, because we're growing so big the neighbours started to complain...
Another bit of great news is that we will start our Samba dance classes on 6 May. We are looking forward to having people dance to our music during our weekly rehearsals, and we're confident that Dorian, our Brazilian dance teacher, will make everyone dance Samba the Brazilian way within weeks!

Happy New Year! And what a great year it was. We had so many fantastic reactions to all the things we did, and even more important, we had a great time, with lots of music and great performances.
And 2004 is going to be bigger and better...so watch this space!

It has been a busy time! Our first concert at the Brisbane Powerhouse was a great success, and the bateria is growing very fast. We have also performed during the "Rhythm of Peace" parade, and are warming up for the Lexmark Indy in Surfers Paradise for 3 parades in a row! |
